Cranium Skylight is an alternative electronic rock duo formed in San Francisco, California in 2006 by Michael Prahl and Amanda Prahl, who are brother and sister. They are currently based in Los Angeles. The name Cranium Skylight is a metaphor for inspiration, light entering the mind to illuminate thought, feeling, and inner vision. It is an attempt to create energetic connections that bring heart and imagination into harmony.

Michael Prahl is a songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, and producer for Cranium Skylight. He began recording and playing guitar at a young age, developing an early passion for shaping sound. While studying art and music in college, he drew inspiration from the raw energy of live performance, which continues to influence the band’s dynamic sound. Michael produces, mixes, and masters their releases from his North Hollywood studio.

Amanda Prahl is a songwriter, vocalist, and keyboardist whose synth work adds depth and atmosphere to the Cranium Skylight sound. She studied psychology, art, and music in college, discovering that creating original music can be a powerful form of emotional expression and personal therapy. Amanda also helps shape the band’s visual identity, creating artwork and videos that reflect the mood and atmosphere of their music.

Cranium Skylight has released three studio albums, Beyond Words (2024), Internalizer (2014), and All Grown Over (2008), a remix EP, Externalizer (2021). They have also composed music for Filmstro. In addition to their artist releases, Michael and Amanda are composing with Audio Active for Warner Chappell Production Music.
